CRYING OUT FOR CLARITY!

At last week’s Annual Parish Meeting, the Town Crier made it into the spotlight!

A member of the public asked:
🧐 “Are the Councillors working with the Town Crier—and who even is it?”

Councillor Hawkins didn’t hold back, declaring:
“The Town Crier is offensive and mean!”

Our response? Simple.
If the Council were transparent and communicated openly with the community, the Crier wouldn’t be needed at all.

The Town Crier was born out of necessity—to keep you informed. The good, the bad, and yes, the ugly. Councillors are elected by the people and that comes with responsibility. If they don’t like scrutiny, perhaps they should ask themselves if public office is really for them.

In recent months we’ve seen:
⚠️ Sexism
⚠️ Cronyism
⚠️ Stonewalling
⚠️ Policy-trapping
⚠️ Poor behaviour from both Council and Clerk
All leading to public confusion and growing frustration.

We now have a new Mayor.
Let’s hope they lead from the front—because leadership is not about power, it’s about accountability.
And perhaps it's time those in appointed roles were reminded of their place.

📯 The Town Crier continues—because you deserve to know what’s going on in your town.
