Upcoming Installation of Speed Indicator Device (SID) in Lynton & Lynmouth

Lynton & Lynmouth Town Council are to install a Speed Indicator Device (SID) to help improve road safety in our community.

Locations:
The SID will rotate between three locations:
  • Fountains Cross
  • Countisbury Hill
  • Barbrook (Caffyns side)

How It Works:
This Vehicle Activated Sign (VAS) has been provided by Devon County Council, with L&L Town Council responsible for its maintenance. The device will display the speed of approaching vehicles and provide real-time feedback:
  • A green smiley face for vehicles driving within the speed limit
  • A red frowning face for those exceeding the limit

Data Collection:
The SID will record licence plates, speed, time, and date of every passing vehicle. This data will be shared with L&L Town Council to monitor traffic speeds and support road safety measures in the area.

As of Thursday 1st May, the Speed Indicor Device is stituated at Fountains Cross.
