Lynton Health Centre

A message landed in the Town Crier’s inbox this week — they asked to stay anonymous but felt it was important to share the following.

Here’s what they wrote:
“I went along to the Town Council meeting the other night to hear what was going to be said about the Lynton medical centre. I’ll be honest I wasn’t sure what to expect but I left feeling quietly grateful for the people who’ve been holding the line for the rest of us.

Val Pugsley gave the update and it was clear just how much time and effort she and Tim Hudson and the P.P.G team have put into this over the past few months, chasing answers, sitting in meetings, writing letters, following up and doing it all very calmly by the sounds. They’ve been pushing to get Queens Medical to deliver what they promised and to make sure the concerns being raised aren’t being ignored.

It’s sounds like there’s been alot of frustration that the service hasn’t always been what it should be. People have had to wait far to long to see a GP or even been unsure who they were even seeing when they got there. But what really came through for me that evening is that Val and Tim haven’t given up and actually things might be starting to improve.

There’s talk of a Nurse practitioner joining full time, and Queens Medical are apparently interviewing for a Doctor to work here regularly which would be a big step forward. It has to be said that we’re not the only place struggling with Doctor’s surgery issues, this is happening across the country but it’s easy to forget that when you’re the one waiting for an appointment.

What we can do is try not to make it worse, by getting angry with the people who are still showing up whether that’s the staff at the Lynton medical centre or the people behind the scenes trying to fix it.

If we look like a village that’s impossible to please, why would any Doctor want to come and work here? We all want better care and the P.P.G team are helping us get there.”
